Victoria Police (“VP”) uses Victoria Police Entrance Examination to support its recruitment and selection processes by evaluating candidates’ capabilities across a range of general skills (“the Assessment”). The Assessment is administered by The Australian Council for Educational Research Ltd (ABN 19 004 398 145) (“ACER”).
This Privacy Collection Notice explains how ACER collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information in connection with your registration for and participation in the Assessment, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”).
1. Collection of Personal Information
ACER may collect information or opinions which may identify or reasonably identify you (“Personal Information”). This may include your name, date of birth, contact details, and your payment details, your test answers and results, any application for special testing conditions and any communications you have with ACER concerning the Assessment.
ACER collects this Personal Information for the purpose of administering, delivering, reporting on, and quality assuring the Assessment (“the Purpose”).
It may also de-identify your Personal Information so that it is not reasonably re-identifiable to you and use that de-identified information for research purposes and disclosing to relevant research bodies.
If you do not provide the Personal Information requested, ACER may be unable to register you for, or allow you to participate in, the Assessment.
2. Collection of Sensitive Information
ACER, pursuing the Purpose, may also collect sensitive information, such as health information, where reasonably necessary to consider or implement reasonable adjustments for your Assessment session.
By ticking the box, during registration for the Assessment in the ACER portal, YOU CONSENT to ACER collecting, using, storing and disclosing your sensitive information as specified in this Privacy Statement.

ACER discloses your de-identified Assessment responses to its current contracted plagiarism review contractor, Copyleaks, Inc., a Delaware company which is based in the USA. The Terms and Conditions cover, amongst other things, Your sitting the VICTORIA POLICE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION test, payment of the registration fee, refunds of fees, access to VICTORIA POLICE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION Preparation Materials and release of the VICTORIA POLICE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION test results.

b. to the fullest extent permitted at law, You acknowledge and accept that the entire risk of Your participation in VICTORIA POLICE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION is assumed by You and that ACER will have no liability whatsoever to You for any loss, harm, damage, cost or expense (including legal fees) or any direct, special, indirect, incidental, punitive or consequential loss or damage (including, without limitation, economic loss, loss of contract, profit, revenue, income, opportunity, goodwill, information, anticipated savings, business relationships, production or data) whatsoever and howsoever arising.
